A friend of mine and Sarahs bought an english bulldog puppy for her husband recently and asked if I would make a bow tie for him. I was thrilled and almost immediately thought of a few designs. It actually didn't take all that long to make once I had all my materials, especially compared to a regular bow tie.

Materials List:
- Bow tie fabric
- Curved plastic paracord buckle
- Metal slide
- Polypropylene webbing for the inside of the collar
Making the bow was quite simple. I folded each rectangular piece in half a couple of times, then pinned them together and sewed right down the center. Then I folded and wiggled it inside the knot piece, toying with it until it looked like a bow. For the collar piece, I folded in the edges of the red fabric and sewed it onto the webbing.
I was pretty close to being done. However, I had an idea to make this bow tie into a fully functional dog collar as well. So I took the bow out of the knot and used a piece of leather and a rivet to attach a metal O ring to the back of it. That way they could attach his dog tag here and it would hang just below the bow.
All that was left now was to slip the collar piece through the knot and attach the hardware! I added another O ring near the buckle for a leash to be clipped on if desired.
The most difficult part of this process was getting little Norman to sit still long enough for me to take a decent picture of him wearing his new tie. He was quite jumpy which shifted the bow around some, but I think it looks good on him!
